Thodathil house at Pattikkad is designed keeping in mind the abundant nature around, and the residence tries to weave into the landscape naturally. The materials used are mostly eco-friendly and close to earth. We have also tried to integrate diverse craft-forms and techniques into the design.

The house is placed along a walkway/driveway so that it allows sufficient distance from the highway and also gives space for landscape; an integral part of the design. The trees and hills behind along with the plants provide sufficient breeze, which was a design criterion to allow maximum ventilation through the house to allow passive cooling.

Natural palettes such as exposed concrete, concrete flooring, terracotta blocks, oxide, coir-boards for interiors are used in the house. It has been our attempt to offer a peaceful space away from the bustle of the city.
